Thank you for naming us the AV's Best Veterinarian for 2004!

15+ YEARS OLD! It seems like it was only yesterday that we started construction on our little piece of the shopping center but it has actually been more than a decade that we have been treating your furry friends in Lancaster.  We have watched several businesses spring up around us (and mourned the loss of the wonderful used bookstore down the row) and are pleased to see that every lot on our side of the shopping center has been filled.  Thank you to all of our loyal clients who have helped us grow over the years, we look forward to helping you keep your furry friends healthy and happy for many more.

Parking squeezes

Please excuse the parking woes caused by the addition of the Starbucks across the way.  This is compounded by the dearth of parking for the schools next door which results in many parents parking in our lot while they walk their children to class.  Unfortunately, the center is experiencing growing pains and many of the parents are offended when we ask them not to park in front of our doors but we try hard to have a few spaces available for you when you bring your furry friend to see us.  Let us know if you need additional assistance when you are forced to park some distance away and we will do our best to make your life a little easier by helping you to the car.

Heartworm disease may be coming to the Antelope Valley.

It may become even more important to keep your pets on heartworm preventive such Interceptor than ever before.  We have met several newcomers from Texas and one dog has tested positive for the disease which is endemic in that state.  Those of you who have started your puppies on the preventive tablet may renew the prescriptions as long as you have not missed more than one dose and provided we have examined your pet within the past year.  Those of you with older dogs that you wish to start on the once monthly tablet should schedule an examination and heartworm antigen test.  It is important to be absolutely sure that your dog does not have the disease before starting the tablet to avoid potentially fatal reactions.  The advantage of using the once monthly preventive tablet is that it also protects against some of the common intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms and whipworms.  Some of these parasites can also affect children therefore use of this medication can help protect both your pet and your child.

Internet News

We continue to keep current with information through the internet.  We had the pleasure of introducing the advantages of using Vetcentric for our website at a recent local association meeting for our veterinary colleagues in the Antelope Valley.

Our next major continuing education experience will be the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas.  This yearly meeting gives us a chance to make sure that we are staying current on techniques, medications and equipment to help us keep your beloved pet healthy and happy.
