Pets scheduled for anesthetic procedures are generally to be dropped off between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., and picked up the next day during those hours unless other arrangements have been made.  Most pets are held overnight to ensure that they have fully recovered from the sedation or anesthesia. It is absolutely essential that a pet undergoing anesthesia be on an empty stomach to avoid the risk of aspiration pneumonia from breathing in vomitus.  Please inform us if your pet has had ANY food or water in the hours prior to dropoff so that we do not inadvertently risk him or her losing their life over an avoidable risk.

Those pets who are alert enough to be released on the same day will be discharged at the discretion of the veterinarian in charge of the case.  Overnight monitoring is available through the auspices of the Animal Emergency Clinic and additional fees will be assessed.
